Temptation!

This poem is meant to explore what we may feel when confronted with a great temptation, but find ourselves torn about what decision to make.
I also played with rhythm changes at the end.

Hope you all like it^^

I got a sudden feeling.
It hurt beyond healing.
I will push it away.
Ensure it cannot stay.

But it just seems to stay on.
So hope I now must don.
I will stand and remain strong.
I’ll oppose what is wrong.

I am sure that it will go.
So sure that I just know.
Before the feeling has grown.
I must become a stone.

All that comes to me…
Brings me nothing but doubt…
So I am confused…
But I wont let it take hold inside…
Yes? No?
Just let go!
Can you hear?

Hear me say…
Hear me speak…

I don’t know what…
Caught my attention!
Hard to say what…
Drew my temptation
Fixed in doubt, it’s…
Fatal attraction!
I can’t hide, it’s…
Such a distraction!

It gets stronger with each day.
It’s hard to keep at bay.
So many choices given
Don’t wont to be driven

Building inside of my head.
Why cant it just be dead?
It’s hard to ignore its call.
I don’t want it at all.

I begin to shed a tear.
But it burns and it sears.
I need not to let it stay.
Just turn my head away.

It could be easily quick.
Its so easy it’s sick.
Nonetheless it’s just too tough.
And I have had enough.

I’m losing it now…
Its claw hold in me…
So what do I do?
Do I give into the temptation?
Yes? No?
I don’t know!
Can you help?

I’m going out of my mind.
My soul, it just seems blind.
I will cry and I will mourn!
For I am just so torn.

From the two paths I must choose.
What will I win or lose?
Such divine beauty in each.
But which one should I reach?

I despise all my own thought.
Because of what I’ve brought.
I cannot stop breaking down.
In temptation I drown.

Choice stares in my face…
Smiling subtlety…
So which choice is right?
Am I making the right decision?
Yes? No?
I feel low!
Can you feel?

This is the end!
Of all I saw that was right…
My condescend…
It’s happening now, tonight!

I’ve paid enough sanity for this time…
I must stand and make the decision mine!

I must choose from two…
Choose which path I do!
There’s no looking back!
Hope is all I pack.
And now you will hear.
What I came to fear!

Yes, mal that is a great poem. I also know that of what you speak of as well. Been there done that. I know that when one comes across such great temptations that it can be very hard to be honorable and remain true to yourself. By the sound of it, mal, you remained true to yourself and honorable.
